Augustine of Hippo
Psalm against the Party of Donatus
Written work
Psalm against the Party of Donatus
Psalmus contra partem Donati

A popular song of 393–394 in abecedarian rhythmic verse with a refrain, composed so that simple believers could learn and sing the history of the Donatist schism from the Catholic point of view. It deliberately dispenses with classical metre and is one of the earliest examples of rhythmic Latin poetry.
