On Rebuke and Grace

De correptione et gratia

El retrato más antiguo de Agustín (fresco de Letrán, s. VI)
byAugustine of Hippo

A companion to the previous work, of 426–427, also for the monks of Hadrumetum: fraternal rebuke is necessary even though perseverance is God's gift, because grace works through human means. It formulates the distinction between Adam's grace and that of the predestined, and is the last work recorded in the Retractationes.
