Unfinished Work against Julian

Contra Iulianum opus imperfectum libri VI

El retrato más antiguo de Agustín (fresco de Letrán, s. VI)
byAugustine of Hippo

A reply, cut short by death in the sixth book, to the eight books Ad Florum of Julian of Eclanum. Augustine quotes each passage of his opponent and refutes it, so that the work preserves much of Julian's text, the most intelligent criticism he received in his lifetime. He was working on it during the Vandal siege of 430.
