On Heresies, to Quodvultdeus

De haeresibus ad Quodvultdeum

El retrato más antiguo de Agustín (fresco de Letrán, s. VI)
byAugustine of Hippo

A catalogue of eighty-eight heresies, from Simon Magus to the Pelagians, compiled in 428–429 at the request of the Carthaginian deacon Quodvultdeus, drawing on Epiphanius and Philaster. It remained unfinished: the promised second part, on what makes a heretic, is missing.
