Debate with Fortunatus the Manichaean

Acta contra Fortunatum Manichaeum

El retrato más antiguo de Agustín (fresco de Letrán, s. VI)
byAugustine of Hippo

Stenographic record of the public debate held in the baths of Sossius at Hippo on 28 and 29 August 392 between the priest Augustine and the Manichaean presbyter Fortunatus. They discuss the origin of evil and freedom; Fortunatus, unable to answer, left the city. It is an exceptional document of live religious controversy.
