Written work

On the Gift of Perseverance

De dono perseverantiae

El retrato más antiguo de Agustín (fresco de Letrán, s. VI)
byAugustine of Hippo

The second part (428–429) of the reply to the monks of Provence: final perseverance in the good is a gift no one can merit. Augustine adds pastoral advice on how to preach predestination without discouraging the faithful, and recalls that the Church has always prayed for the conversion of unbelievers.
