On the Divination of Demons

De divinatione daemonum

El retrato más antiguo de Agustín (fresco de Letrán, s. VI)
byAugustine of Hippo

A short treatise of 406–408, born of a conversation with visitors, explaining how demons, by the subtlety of their airy bodies and long experience, can foretell some events without this proving their divinity. It alludes to the temple of Serapis destroyed at Alexandria in 391.
