On Nature and Grace

De natura et gratia

El retrato más antiguo de Agustín (fresco de Letrán, s. VI)
byAugustine of Hippo

A refutation of 415 of Pelagius's De natura, sent to him by two of Pelagius's disciples. It acknowledges the goodness of created nature but asserts that it is wounded and needs healing by Christ's grace; if nature sufficed, Christ would have died in vain.
