On Justice — Aristotle

Written work

On Justice

Περὶ δικαιοσύνης

Busto de Aristóteles (Museo Nacional Romano, Palazzo Altemps)
byAristotle

A dialogue in four books on justice, clearly Platonic in inspiration, of which only indirect reports remain in Cicero and Lactantius. It apparently discussed justice within the city and between peoples and was one of its author's most read works in Rome.

Authorship note

A lost work, surviving only in fragments and testimonies preserved by later authors. It belongs to the “exoteric” writings, intended for a wide public, which Aristotle published in his lifetime and which antiquity read more than the treatises. Four books; it heads Diogenes Laertius's catalogue (V 22).
