On Respiration
Περὶ ἀναπνοῆς
It reviews the theories of Anaxagoras, Diogenes of Apollonia, Democritus, Empedocles and Plato on respiration and proposes that its function is to cool the heat of the heart, by means of lungs in land animals and gills in fish. It includes precise anatomical observations.

Authorship note
A school treatise of the Aristotelian corpus, regarded as authentic. Like the other surviving treatises, it consists of Aristotle's own teaching materials rather than books meant for the public; the arrangement and titles largely derive from Andronicus of Rhodes's edition (first century BCE). It belongs to the so-called Parva naturalia (short treatises on natural history), a complement to On the Soul. Bekker 470b–480b.
