The Two Brothers and the Gold

Два брата и золото

Lev Tolstói en Yásnaia Poliana (1908)
byLeo Tolstoy

Text for popular prints (lubki): two hermit brothers live serving others; one finds a heap of gold and, wishing to use it for charity, loses the grace kept by the other, who walked past. Written in 1885 and published in 1886. It belongs to the popular stories Tolstoy wrote after his conversion for the Posrednik press, in plain language and with the structure of a parable.
