Third volume of the religious treatise and a systematic statement of Tolstoy's faith. It tells how the verse "Resist not evil" (Matthew 5:39) gave him the key to the Gospel, and reduces Jesus's teaching to five commandments: do not be angry, do not commit adultery, do not swear oaths, do not resist evil by violence and have no enemies. The censor seized the edition in 1884; it circulated in copies and translations, sometimes as My Religion.
