The Three Sons

Три сына

Lev Tolstói en Yásnaia Poliana (1908)
byLeo Tolstoy

Parable of 1887 about a father who gives each of his three sons a share of his estate with the same advice, and about the different use each makes of it: an allegory of how one lives the life one has received. Published in 1889. It belongs to the popular stories Tolstoy wrote after his conversion for the Posrednik press, in plain language and with the structure of a parable.
