Lev Tolstói en Yásnaia Poliana (1908)
byLeo Tolstoy

Translation and adaptation of a Buddhist tale by the American philosopher Paul Carus (Karma: A Story of Early Buddhism), which includes the story of the robber to whom the Buddha lowers a spider's thread to climb out of hell, and which breaks as soon as he pushes the others away. Tolstoy published it in 1894 with a preface on the agreement between Buddhism and Christianity.
