Busto de Mahāvīra, período kuṣāṇa (Museo de Chandigarh)
byMahāvīra

The first Upāṅga: it describes in detail the city of Campā, Mahāvīra's visit, the arrival of King Kūṇika (Ajātaśatru) to hear him and his sermon, and classifies the kinds of ascetics and the worlds in which they are reborn. Its stereotyped descriptions serve as a model for other canonical texts. Ernst Leumann edited it in 1883.
