Uttarādhyayana (The Last Lectures)
उत्तरज्झयण (Uttarajjhayaṇa) / उत्तराध्ययन (Uttarādhyayana)

Thirty-six lectures in verse and prose, one of the oldest and most beautiful texts of the canon, which tradition identifies with the "thirty-six unasked questions" Mahāvīra recited on the night of his death (Kalpasūtra § 147). It contains teachings on the monk's discipline, parables, King Nami's dialogue with Indra, the exhortation to Gautama "not to be careless for a moment" and the meeting of Keśin, a disciple of Pārśva, with Gautama, which explains the reform of the vows.

Authorship note
A text of the Mūlasūtra group of the Śvetāmbara canon, read in the training of monks; a compilation later than the Aṅgas that tradition links with Mahāvīra's teaching.
