The Śvetāmbara canon (the Āgamas)
आगम (Āgama) / सिद्धान्त (Siddhānta)

The body of Jain scriptures in Ardhamāgadhī Prakrit which, according to the Śvetāmbaras, transmits Mahāvīra's teaching. The Mūrtipūjakas recognise 45 texts —11 Aṅgas, 12 Upāṅgas, 6 Chedasūtras, 4 Mūlasūtras, 2 Cūlikāsūtras and 10 Prakīrṇakas—; the Sthānakavāsīs and Terāpanthīs, 32. It was written down at Valabhī around 453 or 466. The Digambaras do not accept it and regard the original canon as lost. Each of its texts has its own entry in this record.
No edition of this work is currently on sale in a store we have been able to verify.
Authorship note
A collective compilation transmitted orally and written down centuries after Mahāvīra, who wrote nothing. Scholars distinguish ancient texts (parts of the Ācārāṅga and the Sūtrakṛtāṅga) from additions reaching down to the Valabhī redaction.
