Axiochus
Ἀξίοχος

Socrates comforts the aged Axiochus, terrified of death, with arguments of diverse origin: death concerns neither the living nor the dead, life is a succession of sorrows, and the immortal soul awaits a happy destiny, according to a myth of the magus Gobryas. It was widely read in the Renaissance as a consolation.

Authorship note
Spurious (Appendix Platonica): Hellenistic (second to first century BC), with Epicurean and Cynic traits; Diogenes Laertius (III 62) includes it among the spurious works.
