byZhuangzi

The hermit Xu Wugui delights Marquis Wu of Wei by talking of dogs and horses; the Yellow Emperor, lost, learns to govern from a boy herding horses. It includes Zhuangzi at Huizi's grave with the parable of the mason of Ying, Guan Zhong's deathbed and the monkey shot down by the King of Wu.

Authorship note

Miscellaneous chapter (zapian). Not by Zhuang Zhou, even though the book circulates under his name: it belongs to the schools that claimed him between the 4th and 2nd centuries BCE, and its present form is that of Guo Xiang's recension (c. 300 CE). Heterogeneous material: Graham identifies in it fragments related to the inner chapters alongside school additions.
