Zhuangzi, ch. 2: "Discussion on Making All Things Equal" (Qiwu lun)

《莊子·齊物論》

Zhuangzi en el álbum de retratos de soberanos sabios y ministros virtuosos
byZhuangzi

The densest philosophical chapter of the book. Ziqi of Nanguo has "lost himself" and hears the piping of heaven; the schools entangle themselves in asserting "this is" and "this is not"; the sage settles at the pivot of the Way and lets things take their course. It contains the fable of the monkeys and "three in the morning", the dialogue of penumbra and shadow, and the butterfly dream.

Authorship note

Inner chapter (neipian). Even before Guo Xiang (c. 300 CE), tradition attributed the seven inner chapters to Zhuang Zhou himself, and most specialists (Graham, Liu Xiaogan) see in them the oldest and most personal layer of the book. Still, the titles and grouping are by later editors, they contain some additions, and Esther Klein (2010) has shown there is no evidence they circulated as a block before the Han.
