Written work

A Writer's Diary

Дневник писателя

Retrato de Fiódor Dostoievski, por Vasili Perov
byFyodor Dostoevsky

An unprecedented work: a one-man periodical combining court reporting, political polemic, memoirs, literary criticism, replies to readers and stories such as Bobok, A Gentle Creature and The Dream of a Ridiculous Man. It reveals Dostoevsky the moralist and prophet, and also the nationalist and antisemite of the Russo-Turkish war. Its success made him Russia's public conscience.
