The Eternal Husband
Вечный муж
A short masterpiece on humiliation and resentment. Velchaninov, a middle-aged man of the world, receives strange visits from Pavel Pavlovich Trusotsky, widower of a former mistress of his, who follows him with a mixture of veneration and hatred and introduces him to the girl Liza, perhaps Velchaninov's daughter. Between comedy and horror, it explores the figure of the deceived husband who cannot stop being one.
