Nārada’s stanzas on the son (Aitareya Brāhmaṇa VII.13)
Traditional attribution
Nārada’s stanzas on the son (Aitareya Brāhmaṇa VII.13)
ऐतरेयब्राह्मण ७.१३ (नारदगाथाः)

They answer the childless king’s question about the fruit of having a son: the father pays a debt in him and gains immortality, the son is like a well-provisioned boat that carries him across, the wife is truly a wife when the husband is reborn in her. The stanzas, which were recited at the royal consecration (rājasūya), are an early document of the Vedic ideology of descent and open the story of Śunaḥśepa.
