Bṛhannāradīya Purāṇa

बृहन्नारदीयपुराण

Nārada visita a Vālmīki
byNarada

A minor Purāṇa of 38 chapters, centred almost entirely on devotion to Viṣṇu: Vaiṣṇava festivals and ceremonies, glorification of the Ganges and of sacred places such as Prayāga and Kāśī, duties of classes and stages of life, vows and rites of passage. Its relation to the major Nāradīya confused nineteenth-century Indologists, because the title appears in both canonical lists of Purāṇas; later research established that the major one is the Nāradīya and this the minor.
