नारदीयशिक्षा

A manual of the Sāmaveda school that teaches the correct intonation and performance of liturgical chant. It sets out the accents, registers and the seven musical notes, relates them to the notes of the flute and the vīṇā, and gives rules on the manner of recitation. It is one of the oldest sources of Indian musical theory and explains why tradition made Nārada the patron of music.
