It describes the spark of the soul that is not content with the Father, nor the Son, nor the Holy Spirit, and wants to enter the simple ground, the 'silent desert' where distinction never peered in. It is the most radical formulation of the modeless Godhead.

Authentic German work, edited in Die deutschen Werke. Numbering of Quint (DW II). Transmitted through listeners' copies; the date of preaching is not precisely known (most German sermons are placed in the Strasbourg and Cologne years, c. 1313–1326).
