The Book of the Night Journey
Written work
The Book of the Night Journey
كتاب الإسرا إلى المقام الأسرى (Kitab al-isra' ila al-maqam al-asra)
An account in rhymed prose and verse of a spiritual ascension modelled on the Prophet's night journey and ascension: the soul crosses the heavens, converses with the prophets and reaches the station nearest to God. It is Ibn Arabi's first great visionary text and anticipates themes he would develop in the Meccan Openings.
