白隠禅画墨蹟 (Hakuin zenga bokuseki)

Portraits of Bodhidharma, Hotei, Kannon and ancient masters, self-portraits, popular scenes and caricatures, and large characters—“death”, “virtue”, “the sound of one hand”—with inscriptions that are themselves sermons. Given to visitors and patrons, they are now kept in temples (Ryūtaku-ji, Shōin-ji, Eisei Bunko) and in museums worldwide.

Authorship note
A corpus of several thousand paintings and calligraphies; the earliest dated work is a Daruma of 1719, but most date from after 1745. There are many doubtful attributions and copies by disciples.
