Idle Talk on a Night Boat (Yasenkanna)

夜船閑話 (Yasenkanna)

Autorretrato de Hakuin (1767)
byHakuin Ekaku

An account of the young Hakuin's “Zen sickness” and its cure through inner contemplation (naikan), which brings the vital energy down to the lower belly, and the butter-egg method. It blends Chinese medicine, Daoism and Zen; it was his most widely read book among lay people and still circulates as a health manual.
