The Extensive (Shafi'i law)
البسيط في المذهب (al-Basit fi l-madhhab)
The first and most extensive of his three great Shafi'i law compendia, closely following his master al-Juwayni's *Nihayat al-matlab*. It survives in manuscripts and has not been translated; its interest is mainly technical, but it shows the legal formation that underpins all his later work.
