The Treasures of Lovers (commentary on the Tarjuman)

ذخائر الأعلاق شرح ترجمان الأشواق (Dhakhair al-alaq)

Ibn Arabi a caballo con dos discípulos (miniatura safaví)
byIbn Arabi

A verse-by-verse commentary on the odes of the *Tarjuman*: every place name, every animal and every gesture of the beloved is translated into a spiritual sense (divine knowledge, states of the soul, presences of the Name). The preface explains the circumstances: a theologian in Aleppo had claimed that the mystical interpretation was an alibi, and was convinced on hearing the commentary read.
