The Healing of the Thirsty (on legal reasoning)
شفاء الغليل في بيان الشبه والمخيل ومسالك التعليل (Shifa' al-ghalil)
A treatise on legal theory concerning analogy (*qiyas*) and the identification of the legal cause (*'illa*), in which he develops the notion of public interest (*maslaha*) he would take up in the *Mustasfa*. It is a key piece in the history of the theory of the purposes of Islamic law.
