Library Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha

Later compilation
Samyutta Nikaya (The Connected Discourses)
Saṃyutta Nikāya

Nearly three thousand short discourses grouped by theme in fifty-six sections: the aggregates, the sense bases, dependent origination, the factors of awakening, the four noble truths. It includes the first sermon at Benares (SN 56.11) and is the most systematic source of early doctrine; many of its texts have very close parallels in the Chinese Samyukta Agama.

Authorship note
The Buddha wrote nothing. The discourses were transmitted orally for centuries by specialised reciters and committed to writing in Sri Lanka in the first century BCE; authorship is collective and attribution to the Buddha traditional. Scholarship distinguishes early strata from later additions by comparing the Pali canon with its Chinese, Sanskrit and Tibetan parallels.
