Five Verses on the One Self (Ekatma Panchakam)

ஏகாத்ம பஞ்சகம்

Retrato de Ramana Maharshi por G. G. Welling (1948)
byRamana Maharshi

A short late poem summarising the teaching in five stanzas: to forget the Self and take the body for oneself is like the drunkard asking where he is; the Self is one and always present. It is of interest as his last original work and as evidence that he wrote in several South Indian languages.

Authorship note

Written in 1947 first in Telugu, in a Tamil metre, and then translated by himself into Tamil. Osborne states it was not written in response to any request; other sources attribute it to a devotee's plea.
