Appalappattu (The Song of the Poppadum)

அப்பளப் பாட்டு

Retrato de Ramana Maharshi por G. G. Welling (1948)
byRamana Maharshi

A Tamil song that turns the recipe for poppadum, the lentil wafer of South Indian cooking, into an allegory of self-enquiry: grinding the ego, kneading it with the question about the Self and frying it in the fire of knowledge until only reality remains. It shows the humour and simplicity with which Ramana taught.
