byJesus of Nazareth

After the Saviour's departure the disciples fear persecution; Mary comforts them and, at Peter's request, reveals a teaching received in a vision about the ascent of the soul through the powers. Andrew and Peter doubt that the Lord spoke in secret to a woman; Levi defends her. The text has held a central place in the study of female leadership in early Christianity.
