The Gospel according to the Hebrews
Εὐαγγέλιον καθ᾽ Ἑβραίους
Its few fragments include an appearance of the risen Jesus to James, his brother, and the image of the Holy Spirit as Jesus's mother. It reflects the piety of Christian communities of Jewish origin that gave James a pre-eminent place and that ended up on the margins of the great Church.

Authorship note
A lost Jewish-Christian gospel known only from quotations in Clement of Alexandria, Origen and Jerome; it is dated to the first half of the second century. The distinction between this gospel, that of the Nazareans and that of the Ebionites is a debated modern reconstruction.
