Essence of Eloquence: Treatise Differentiating the Interpretable and the Definitive

དྲང་བ་དང་ངེས་པའི་དོན་རྣམ་པར་འབྱེད་པའི་བསྟན་བཅོས་ལེགས་བཤད་སྙིང་པོ། (drang ba dang nges pa'i don rnam par 'byed pa'i bstan bcos legs bshad snying po)

Tsongkhapa, pintura del siglo XVI (Rubin Museum of Art)
byTsongkhapa

Composed in 1407–1408 at the Sera Chöding hermitage above Lhasa, it is his hermeneutical work: how to decide which of the Buddha's teachings are to be taken literally and which require interpretation. It goes through the Mind-Only (Yogācāra) reading of the Saṃdhinirmocana, then those of Bhāviveka and Candrakīrti within Madhyamaka, concluding in favour of the Prāsaṅgika approach. Tradition regards it as the most difficult of his books. Vol. 14 (pha).
