הקדמה לפרק חלק (שלושה עשר עיקרים)
Eschatological essay introducing the tenth chapter of tractate Sanhedrin ("All Israel have a share in the world to come"). It distinguishes vulgar conceptions of reward from the true happiness of the soul, and concludes with thirteen principles every Jew must believe: God's existence, unity and incorporeality, His eternity, that worship is due to Him alone, prophecy, the primacy of Moses's prophecy, the divine origin of the Torah and its immutability, providence, reward and punishment, the coming of the Messiah and the resurrection. They entered the liturgy as a hymn (*Yigdal*) and a creed (*Ani maamin*) composed by others.
