Oath and Prayer of the Physician (spurious)

Gebet eines Arztes / תפילת הרופא

Retrato imaginario de Maimónides (Ugolini, 1744)
byMaimonides

A physician's prayer asking God for love of his art and of the sick, widely used in medical schools as an alternative to the Hippocratic Oath. It appeared in print in German at the end of the eighteenth century and research attributes it to the physician Markus Herz, a pupil of Kant; it is not by Maimonides.
