The Infancy Gospel of Thomas
Παιδικὰ τοῦ Κυρίου
Episodes from Jesus's childhood between the ages of five and twelve: he models clay birds that fly away, strikes dead those who annoy him and makes fools of his teachers, before becoming a beneficent child who heals and raises the dead. It fills the gap the canonical gospels leave between the birth and the Temple episode, and some of its scenes passed into the Qur'an (the clay birds, sura 3:49).
Authorship note
An anonymous narrative, distinct from the Nag Hammadi Gospel of Thomas, attributed in some versions to "Thomas the Israelite". It is dated to the second century and circulated in numerous Greek, Syriac, Latin and Slavonic versions.
