Parmenides
Παρμενίδης

A very young Socrates expounds the theory of Forms before the Eleatics Parmenides and Zeno, who subject it to devastating objections, among them the argument Aristotle would call the "third man". The second part is a long dialectical exercise on the one. It is the only dialogue in which Socrates appears as a defeated pupil.

Authorship note
A work by Plato, not by Socrates. It is a literary recreation composed after his teacher's death: it preserves features of the historical Socrates, but his words are those Plato gives him. The conversation with Parmenides and Zeno is chronologically just possible and almost certainly fictional.
