Meno
Μένων

Meno of Thessaly asks whether virtue can be taught. Socrates replies that one must first know what it is, and faced with the paradox of how to search for what one does not know he questions a slave about a geometry problem to show that learning is recollection (anamnesis). At the end Anytus, one of Socrates' future accusers, appears and warns him of the danger of speaking ill of Athenians.

Authorship note
A work by Plato, not by Socrates. It is a literary recreation composed after his teacher's death: it preserves features of the historical Socrates, but his words are those Plato gives him.
