Nothing survives beyond minimal quotations. The ancient debate on whether Pythagoras wrote shows that by the Hellenistic period it was known there were no genuine works of his; Heraclitus (DK 22 B 129) speaks of the writings Pythagoras supposedly used, not of those he wrote.

Authorship note

Spurious. Diogenes Laertius (VIII 6) reports the opinion of those who said Pythagoras wrote three books—Paideutikon, Politikon and Physikon—against those who denied he wrote anything. The texts that circulated under these titles are Hellenistic forgeries.
