Thomas of Celano, The Shorter Life of Saint Francis (Vita brevior)
Vita brevior beati patris nostri Francisci
An abridged version of the first life, commissioned by Elias of Cortona, which adds some new details about Francis's life and the brothers' prayer. Its discovery revived the Franciscan question at the beginning of the twenty-first century.

Authorship note
A biographical source, not a work by Francis. Composed between 1232 and 1239; lost until Jacques Dalarun identified it in 2014 in a manuscript acquired by the Bibliothèque nationale de France (nouv. acq. lat. 3245) and edited it in 2015.
