A brief message in which Francis announces his approaching death to his Roman friend and benefactress and asks her to come with cloth for a shroud, wax for candles and the almond sweets she used to make for him in Rome. Its narrative force explains its circulation.

Authorship note

Doubtful. The dying Francis's summons to the Roman noblewoman Jacoba of Settesoli is in Celano's Treatise on the Miracles; the text of the letter survives only in late sources and its authenticity is debated.
