Mysterium Magnum, oder Erklärung über das erste Buch Mosis
His longest work: a chapter-by-chapter commentary on Genesis, from creation to the death of Joseph, read as the history of God's revelation in nature and in the soul. Creation, the fall, Cain and Abel, Noah, Babel, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph become figures of inner processes and of the struggle between wrath and love. It contains his most mature exposition of the Ungrund, Sophia and the 'language of nature'. Berdyaev considered it his chief work.
