Antistifelius: Bedenken über Esaias Stiefels Büchlein von dreierlei Zustand des Menschen

Retrato póstumo de Jakob Böhme
byJakob Böhme

A two-part reply (1621 and 1622) to the Thuringian visionary Esaias Stiefel, who claimed to be already perfect and identified with Christ. Böhme rejects the claim to a sanctity fulfilled in this life and distinguishes the new man, who grows in the soul, from the outer man, who remains subject to sin until death.
