Of the Election of Grace — Jakob Böhme

Written work

Of the Election of Grace

De electione gratiae, oder Von der Gnadenwahl

Retrato póstumo de Jakob Böhme
byJakob Böhme

His answer to the Calvinist doctrine of predestination, debated in Silesia in those years. Böhme holds that God does not choose some for salvation and others for damnation: election takes place in the will of man, which can turn towards love or towards wrath. Rereading election in this way obliges him to rebuild his whole theology of eternal nature.
