Itivuttaka

Buda de pie, arte de Gandhara
bySiddhartha Gautama, the Buddha

One hundred and twelve short teachings in prose and verse, each introduced by the formula “this was said by the Blessed One.” Tradition holds that they were memorised by Khujjuttara, a maid of Queen Samavati, to repeat to the women of the palace. Arranged by number, they deal with the mind's poisons, generosity and liberation.
